How It Works: Final Stage of Auction

The bidders who have an interest have either entered or will enter their bid amounts in the online bidding system. The auction is usually conducted over 7-31 days but has a specific end time assigned, with the auction extended if a bid is placed in the last 3-5 minutes (time chosen for bidsniper protection). This will continue till 3-5 minutes after the last bid - as long as bids are being placed, the item will remain open and available for bidding.

Like in a standard auction where the price rises with successive bids, the competitive dynamic between bidders in a consignment auction results in higher and higher bids, which can lead to “outstanding prices received”.

Properly promoted online auctions are proven to be more effective than traditional forms of negotiation when multiple buyers are represented.
